The Top 10 Worst Oscar snubs from 1990-2008

The Oscars can be stupid sometimes. From giving stupid wins from their acting categories (Jennifer Hudson, Helen Hunt) to Best Picture (Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind) to snubbing many, many great performances.

Here are the top 10 worst Oscar acting snubs ever, from the past 18 years of my existence.

10. Elias Koteas as Captain Staros in The Thin Red Line (1998)

-You may think that only Tom Hanks or George C. Scott delivered great performances in a war movie. Think again. Elias Koteas gives an outstanding, scene-stealing performance as Captain Staros, who defies his commanding officers to save the other soldiers. Koteas balanced his character very well, he can be as creepy as a heartless officer, and he can be also very sympathetic.

Who should be replaced?: Geoffrey Rush in Shakespeare in Love. Seriously, besides Joseph Fiennes, the others were forgettable.

09. Shugo Oshinari as Hoshino Sosuke in All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001)

-Oshinari's character in the film was the most complex and the most developed character, that's why I easily give him the win that year. I rank it at #9 because Japan didn't even bother to enter this film at the Oscars at all, so the film never got the attention it deserved. Here, Shugo Oshinari plays Hoshino Sosuke, a very smart and rich student who used to be a bullied student, but after their Summer vacation, he becomes cold, icy and monstrous. Many viewers might think that Oshinari was wooden and expression-less, but his character was supposedly heartless and cold, and Oshinari nailed it perfectly. His big eyes illustrate extreme anger, but deep inside, he is a character full of sorrow, despair and fear, and Oshinari perfectly illustrated those emotions.

Who should be replaced? John Voight in Ali. A forgettable performance in a forgettable film.

08. Joan Allen as Terry Wolfmayer in The Upside of Anger (2005)

-Dysfunctional mothers are fun to watch. Think of Annette Bening in American Beauty (1999), Mary Tyler Moore in Ordinary People (1980) and off course Joan Allen in The Upside of Anger. Here, Joan plays Terry, a sharp-mouthed mother who's always MAD because her husband just left her for another woman. Allen was a gem-a marvelous performance. She was hilarious and as well as affecting. A very memorable performance, but sadly, the academy forgot her.

Who should be replaced? Reese Witherspoon in Walk the Line. Yes, the winner herself. She's not bad, but I can name 5 other performances that are better than her.

07. Maggie Gyllenhaal as Sherry Swason in SherryBaby (2006)

-Gyllenhaal was always an underrated actress. She's one of the few actors who can easily stand out even though their characters aren't very well written (see Donnie Darko). She also deserved a nomination for Happy Endings in 2005, but this incredibly strong year (2006), she was mercilessly snubbed. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Sherry, a former prisoner who returns home to reestablish her relationship with her very young daughter. Gyllenhaal effortlessly played Sherry and owned every inch of the character. She was controlled and subtle, even her over-the-top scenes looked very natural. Like what I said, 2006 was such a strong year for Lead Actresses, but I really think Gyllenhaal belongs to top five of that year.

Who should be replaced? As much as I love her, Kate Winslet in Little Children. Sure it was good, but not top five worthy.

06. Ewan McGregor as Renton in Trainspotting (1996)

-If you think that Moulin Rouge! was McGregor's best performance and you haven't seen Trainspotting, well then, rent or buy it. See it. McGregor was Renton in the film, a drug addict who wants to be cleaned, but the influence of his friends was his dilemma. I don't think any other actor can pull off Renton as good as Ewan's portrayal. This is one of the best characterizations ever. Even though he's not my win, McGregor definitely deserves to be nominated.

Who should be replaced? Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. That stinky film doesn't even deserve any recognition at all.

Pressure: Possibly the bitchiest College block mate since Regina George

Being a college student was one of the best experiences in every human’s life. Imagine those ridiculously long break times, adjustable professors, easy subjects, etc. But when there’s a rainbow, there’s a storm…and this storm carries lots of thunders and heavy rains-particularly pressure, hectic schedules, terror professors, and so on and so forth.

College was piece of cake. Yeah, it is. But when your professor told you that you have to rush a 10-paged Script and you have to pass it TOMORROW, it’s like hell on earth-a total mind abomination. Your head was far too rammed up on your script’s intestines, you can probably see its tonsils (I know I’m being completely melodramatic about that, but that’s just me), and you begin to feel a terrible twinge inside your head, and you sometimes felt that you’re going to be hysterical and sometimes ballistic, not to mention that there are times that you’ll experience paroxysms of rage, if you can’t control the pressure that keeps on reproducing inside your head.

Never let pressure get inside your head. Never let them lay eggs and make babies. Instead, divert your attention into the light side. I know that it’s very hard and exhausting to divert, but it will really help you a lot.

First of all, you’ve got to think fast. I know, you’ll say that “Hey, I’m thinking all day, right? So can someone please remove the word “thinking” in my dictionary?” No, you’re not thinking at all. You’re experiencing the “mental block” syndrome. How to get rid of it? You’ve got to focus on one thing. Forget the deadline, forget the professors, and forget the detractors, just focus on the one thing that you’re doing. By doing that, brilliant ideas will come out like dandelion seeds floating in the sky. And you’ll say that “Wow, I CAN do it”, and it will make your work faster.

Last but not the least; believe that you can do it. Never ever think that your block mate is doing some five-star culinary masterpiece, because it will just boost your insecurity and will knock your confidence down. You’ve got to believe in yourself. You have to plant in your mind that your biggest fan is always yourself. I did not say that you should get over confident and just bring out whatever, but I want you to believe that you’re brilliant in some ways; there’s an idea inside you that can be ten-times better than others. So don’t let anxiety eat your brains out. Learn to share your thoughts. If you failed, at least you tried.

Short story I just made (pls. read)

Lisa and Bryan was best friends during their high school days. Both of them are really popular back then because of their undeniably good looks and their extraordinary talents: Lisa was a fantastic violinist and Bryan was a great basketball player.

After their graduation, Lisa and Bryan parted ways. In the first few months of their college life, they manage to call each other and exchange some new and interesting things about themselves. But as time goes by, and both of them became busy, their connection started to loose.

Her memories with Bryan (and Bryan himself) slowly fades into black and white, as she graduated from college. She is now a lawyer. Her passion for violin slowly replaced with her passion for laws, crimes and defending the truth. Lisa is a whole new different person now. She quickly gained acknowledgment and reputation because of her knowledge, and she became one of the most respected women in the country. She is also hosting a public service program which boosted her popularity.

Lisa is now matured, focused, and busy as hell. She's just too busy to think of her other friends, her high school life, her best friend. Now, she thought that high school is just one of her stupid childish memories, so all of those sad and happy memories are just so vague to remember. Last week, she found out that her elementary school was burned due to an accident, but she was very apathetic about it...like it was just a piece of junk thrown into the dumpster.

One night, Lisa decided to check her e-mail. She saw numerous e-mails from different acquaintances and clients. Some are good, some are bad. Some are her "fans" thanking and admiring her because of her strong character and kindness. One mail caught her attention. It came from a guy named bestman1911. She curiously opened it.

the mail said..

"Dear Ms. Lisa Ramos,

Greetings! I'm one of your biggest fans. I may sound nothing to you but I've always known you ever since you're still an ordinary person. When I'm watching your television show, your smile at the end bothers me. It was not the genuine smile of yours. The smile that was painted on your beautiful face wasn't a smile of true happiness. Now, Lisa, I wanted to see you wearing that genuine and subtle smile again.

Lisa wrinkled her forehead and gathers her thoughts. The nick name was very familiar to her, but it's too unclear...too blurry. The image that was slowly forming to her head was amorphous. She wasn't sure who was it, but it looks like a guy. An ambiguous, silhouette-like face appeared. It's getting clearer and clearer as she cites all of her past memories.

The guy was tall, about 6'1. He is wearing a varsity jacket-a high school varsity jacket, not to mention HER high school. He have a fair, white skin, well grown hair, thick and curved eye brows, brown eyes and small reddish lips. Finally, the image was clear.

It was her best friend...the guy who loves the numbers 19 and 11 because he accumulated 19 points on their eleventh game during high school. He's the guy who always begins his letters and speeches with the word "Greetings", and he's the guy who always noticing her smile. The guy was Bryan.

Lisa immediately responds to the letter. She was very excited because she haven't seen him in a long time. As she lies on her bed, she thinks about her past memories with Bryan. She asked herself a couple of questions: how does he look like now? what happened to him? something like those.

The next day, lunch time, Lisa excitedly goes to their meeting place. Her stomach felt curling-she was really tensed and aflame at the same time. She parked the car in front of the restaurant and grabs her blue shoulder bag and put it on her left shoulder.

As she enter inside the restaurant, she quickly finds a guy who was wearing a red bonnet (because that's what Bryan told her...he was wearing a red bonnet), and he finds one, sitting beside the big window on the left side. She slowly walks toward him, examining his face. Then, Bryan faced her and smiles. Lisa was so shocked on what she saw. As she goes nearer and nearer towards Bryan, she realized that Bryan changed a lot. At the age of 26, Bryan looks horrid. He was very skinny, losing his hair, and looks like an old man. He was wearing a jacket and drinking coffee that time.

"Hi...Bryan?" she said, still looking on Bryan's face.

"Lisa. I've been dying to see you again. Sit down" Bryan said. Lisa clasped her hands after she sit on the couch. She bite her lower lip and examines Bryan's face. Even though he was smiling, Bryan's eyes looked blank. His face was filled with freckles and there are some scars on his neck. She also noticed a wart-like thing on his chest. No, it was a lesion.

"Hey, Lis, why are you so quiet?" Bryan said. Lisa puts a little smile and said

"No. I'm just...surprised. Wow, you've changed a lot Bry. I missed you so much" Lisa looked down, because she was a bit upset. Bryan noticed it and said

"I know what you're thinking"

"What?" Lisa said after she turned her sight on Bryan's face. Bryan looked serious and sad at the same time.

"Don't feel sorry for me"

"What happened to you?" Lisa asked. Bryan clasped his hands and took a deep breath.

"I didn't finish my college studies. When I stopped, I started to hustle on the streets. Maybe one of my costumers have one, so yeah, I got it. It's been 5 years since I've found out" he explained. Lisa was so shocked. She was appalled on Bryan's situation. She wanted to cry but Bryan knows that she's a strong person. Besides, she needs to play the strong character in order to inspire Bryan.

"I'm so sorry, Bry. You're my best friend yet I'm not there when you're in pain...when you're suffering from this terrible distress. I'm very, very sorry" Lisa said.

"You don't need to say sorry. I'm so happy for you. You've already reached your dreams, and I'm glad that you still remembered me" Bryan replied while smiling. Lisa's eyes turned watery, making it sparkling because of the sun light.

"I've always forgotten how beautiful you are, and I'm happy to see you again" Bryan continued. Lisa grab Bryan's right hand and hold it tightly, as if she's not letting him go. Lisa and Bryan exchanged addresses because they promised that they will see each other more often.

Few weeks later, Lisa's doorbell rang. It was a delivery guy and she got a huge package.

On her room, she opened the box. It was from Bryan's family. It contained some of Bryan's things such as his jersey, his varsity jacket, a picture of him and her, Bryan's wristband, and some of other stuffs. She then saw a letter inside a pink envelope attached outside the box. She opened it and read it...

"Lisa,

I give you all of Bryan's most memorable and valued stuffs. Just in case you don't know, Bryan died a week ago because of AIDS. He wanted these things to be sent to you.

Thanks,
Marie, Bryan's mom"

Lisa felt choked. She felt something heavy hit her heart. She felt a bullet got stocked inside her eyes that it made her shed tears. The letter flies as she accidentally throw it down. She begins to cry hard, because of the despair she felt. She hugged Bryan's jacket that she worn a long time ago while they are waiting for a bus to ride.

She feels that she have made a big mistake on not seeing Bryan for a long time. She felt that she lost the biggest lawsuit of her life.

I just realized that after the Academy Awards ceremony, after I enjoyed the show, Kate Winslet's win and Slumdog Millionaire's domination, one song was mercilessly snubbed by the Academy-the true Best Original Theme Song of 2008, Bruce Springsteen's The Wrestler. It's such a letdown that this beautiful song was criminally overlooked, and so as the film. The Wrestler was 2008's most underrated jewel. Some The Dark Knight fanboys thinks that their beloved movie got snubbed in the Oscar big time, but how about The Wrestler? What about Danny Aronofsky? What about Bruce Springsteen, the screenplay, and the cinematography? Seriously, The Wrestler was better than the three other nominees (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Reader and Frost/Nixon). If I'm going to make a list of films notoriously snubbed by the Academy, The Wrestler for Best Original Song was in the Top 10, maybe in the Top 5 if I can't think of any.

Oscar winners 2009: Slumdog Millionaire dominates

Live at Kodak Theater, the winners of the 2009 Academy Awards were announced, and Slumdog Millionaire dominated the night with eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director-Danny Boyle and Best Adapted Screenplay. The rest of the cast goes into the stage to collect the Best Picture thropy, leaded by the film's producer, Christian Colson.

Meanwhile, epic love story The Curious Case of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt, who was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role, won three Oscars for Best Make-up, Best Visual Effects and Best Art Direction. The film also received 10 more Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Director.

On ther hand, Milk, a biopic about gay activist Harvey Milk and comic book movie The Dark Knight won two Oscars. Milk bagged the Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Sean Penn) trophies, while The Dark Knight received Best Sound Editing and a posthumus award for Heath Ledger in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category.

This was also another memorable night for Kate Winslet, who won her first Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role in The Reader after receiving 5 other nominations. Other winners includes Penelope Cruz, who won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal as Maria Elena in the Woody Allen film Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Japan's The Departures, winner for Best Foreign Language film.

Hugh Jackman hosted the 2-hour program aired in ABC.

I hate Twilight. Possibly the most annoying, cliched, cheesy, mushy, trashy and the most overrated movie ever made. I loath every inch of it. Sobra. Nakakainis din yung mga emo fantards nya across the web.

Edward Cullen is the gayest straight character in the history of Cinema. Even Harvey Milk looks straight compared to him. And Bella Swan...God knows how retarded Bella is.

Another vampire movie was released last year...it's called Let the Right One In. It was a Swedish movie about two kids, one human and one vampire, falls in love. It has a mature screenplay, thrilling, exciting and superb performances all around and 100000x better than TWIGLAYT.

or, should I say, things that makes Krenn a good person

In year 2000, Nostradamus was damn wrong. The world did not end. Instead, in 2000, lots of things happened like my favorite film Amores Perros was released in Mexico, actress Loretta Young dies, Microsoft releases Windows 2000 and so on. But hello, I'm not going to tackle all these things that happened in 2000. I'm supposed to talk about myself. Forget it. But the year 2000 made a real significance in my life.

That year I turned 10 years old. I'm still an immature kid that time, but I've experienced a lot of things. Things are very hard when I was 10, and switching schools is one of those. I'm an NPS or No Permanent School. After I've experienced a rather horrible thing from my previous school, it really terrifies me to go to another one. I used to be one of the smartest among the class, but this nutcase teacher marked a very low grade on my card! The usual parent-teacher drama happened when my mom confronted my teacher (think of Viola Davis and Meryl Streep's scene in Doubt), and my mom decided to transfer me to another school.

As I step my foot into my whole new battlefield (because I got transfered AFTER the 1st grading period, so yaz, I'm like an irregular student who doesn't know anything except the fact that HE needs to mingle with the others), my head begins to think: Will I survive? Do I need to hold on into my weapon (being myself) tightly or should I let it go? Will I make any friends or foes? Lots of questions actually, including what's the smell of the comfort room, are the books in the good condition, do I have ugly classmates, ETC. all of them are mixing inside my head like a sweet Halo-Halo waiting to be digested inside your stomach.

So, the number 1 Panchingero that makes me a good person is... STRENGTH BY GOD.

It may sound cliche but I survived! A lots of troubles happened but in the help of my unbelievable strength, courage and GOD's grace, I survived those troubles. I'm not that kind of person who's easy to fall down. You can't make me beg with my knees kneeling towards you by simply saying that you want me to. I need to make atleast one punch on your face...or atleast I should defend myself before you can tell me what you want me to do.

#2 Panchingero: FAMILY.

My mom, dad and my kuya are all dependable and nice. They are there whenever I'm on top, down, middle etc. Whatever problems that I encounter, they all make me feel that I have a wall to lean on. My family was HARD AS ROCK. We are solid and no one's gonna put us down. And if ever, someone will try to do so, I will hunt them down. I will make them suffer as if they wish their mom aborted them when they're still a fetus.

#3 Panchingero: FRIENDS

Niko? She? Annie? Ivan? Bianca? Kc? Pau? Garah? Ann? Abbie? Christopher? Corinthian? LMG boys? 2MC02 and Kanguszo? How can I live without them? Seriously, life's crazy without them...and if I lost atleast one of them, I dunno what to do. When I'm with thease folks, my brain starts to laugh. It feels like I'm in paradise with them. I treasure all of them, ALL of them. Well, these people are too beautiful to ignore. They're one of God's greatest gift to me.

#4 Panchingero: MOVIES

Amores Perros' signature edition DVD costs $9.00, Battle Royale's 6-disc boxset costs P1,999. Watching a movie? PRICELESS. I love movies. Without movies, art is nothing. Cinema was universe's greatest form of art-a perfect way on expressing deep and shallow emotions, presenting visually stunning images and putting a smile on everybody's faces. True, that there are movies that are meant to entertain and are meant to be appreciated, but whatever, movies are still one of the main reasons why I'm breathing.

So, this kinda-long dramatic monolog of mine is over and I hope you guys will love it.

I don't care if some grammars or spellings are wrong (I'm a human being, Goddamit! I'm not PERFECT!), but if God forgives, then so are you =)

SPEECH kung SPEECH

So, finally kanina, we (Batch 1) have finally delivered our respective speeches. Off course, everyone was biting-off their finger and toe nails (what?!) and almost throw up some smurf because of nervous. Anyway, so I'm the 5th (?) presenter. The first 4 was excellent. They all delivered their speeches very well. Some experienced "blank minded syndrome" and paused for a couple of times, but it's amazing that they never got distracted.

Dapat ako talaga eh pang 6, pero nag skip dun sa talagang 5th sa list kasi absent. So, I felt a sudden cringe. I feel like my stomach and my guts are mixing altogether. It's my turn!!!!

So I stand up. Took a deep breath and here goes...

Whoo! I survived! Kabisado ko pala...so nagpatuloy ako...

It's like everything everywhere is going crazy

So finally natapos ko na din yung speech. Sabi nung mga classmates ko nakakadala daw yung boses ko. I'm proud of what I've done. It feels soooo great dahil nai deliver ko naman yung speech ko ng maayos. Not perfect but simply brilliant. HAHAHA! May ganun?

So pagka uwian, sabi sakin ng prof ko iimbitahan daw nya akong mag speech sa kabilang section. It feels so good! Pero, I have class so hindi ko tinanggap. HEHE.

iPod is my only source of entertainment whenever I'm riding a jeepney to go to school. iPod is an instrument to store music. What are you doing with these music? You should listen to it, so you'll never get bored. How can you listen to it? You need EARPHONES.

From the first time I got my iPod, I've already used, like, 7 ear phones already. What happened to them?

The original earphones lasted for 5 months, it got broke because while travelling to Batangas, I fell asleep and I kept it inside my pocket. I accidentally sat on it and bwuala, earphone's already broke.

The 2nd one was the longest, I've used it for 7 months. It's a headphone from Fitness First (which my mom owns, yet she don't know how to use it, so lucky me). I don't know but some kind of mystical forces makes the left speaker of my headphone broke. So, it's useless now.

The others? Same thing happened. The shortest was probably...well, this recent earphones I just brought.

I decided to go and buy another bag because my Bench bag's zipper got ripped. So, I decided to buy a new bagpack in Illuztrascio (or something). It costs almost 900 pesos and God, I thought it's already pricey but my mom bought it anyway.

Then I said to my mom that I want to have brand new earphones. My mom's forehead wrinkled because (I think) she doesn't like the thought. So, I have to convince her.

"Mom, I promise to take care of this earphones, bla bla bla"

So finally, she brought me an earphone. It costs 250, so, the sound registers so good. So I enjoy it until we're having groceries, then into our car, until home.

So I'm really enjoying my earphones, and it's foundation day at my university so I have soo many time to listen to my iPod. I have severe addiction to Fast Cars so I played it like 8x or so a day.

When we saw the Korean students (whom one of them was very good looking, and my friend, Garah kinda have a crush on him), we decided to ask them for a picture. Because of adrenaline, I left my bag on the curb, so I ask my friend, Rex, to give me my bag.

He throws the bag on my hands. It slept. I grab it....like, nothing happens.

The next day, I get my iPod from its case. To my surprise, the covers of the earphone was missing. No, wait, it's not. It's still inside the case, but unfortunately, it was detached from the earphone. I was so upset and thinks that I broke it again. So I tried to put it back. Thank God, it's REALLY detachable. So, iPodding continues.

Until one day, my friend Bianca borrowed my iPod. She listens to it, dah dah dah like forever. Then she returns it to me...wait a second, where's the cover of the earphone...AGAIN?

Then she realized that it was left on his ear. IT GOT BROKE! Then she started to re-attach it again. No, it can't. The earphone is officially broke. Yes, it is. For two weeks, the spirit of that earphone finally lingers in the 4-cornered cafeteria of Trinity University of Asia. No, wait a second. It CAN'T be broke. I need to think of something or else, my commuting life will be BORING for the rest of the semester.

So I started working on it at night. Off course, I need to hide it from my mom because she's definitely going to NAG me because of it. So, I remove the gray rubber cover of it and re-attach the white rounded plastic cover of the earphone, also the stainless ring.

WOOO! I need to fix it. So I fix it.

The solution I get was I detach the gray rubber and instead, I attach the pink one. IT WORKED!

But, now, as I type this message, my earphone is now breathing using a respirator (the gray and the pink rubbers), because accidentally, the white rounded plastic cover and the stainless ring got lost while I'm riding on a jeep. POOR ME.

There are so many movies that we know that they SUCK but, hell, they are not easy to ignore because they are so DAMN entertaining!

Here are my Top 5 Guilty Pleasures of All Time:

1) Mortal Kombat (1995)

-Who else did NOT copy any of it's moves? Dance on it's theme song? Imitate Shang Tsung's "finish him!" line? Mortal Kombat is like my ultimate guilty pleasure of all time. It is yeah, Bad, but for me, the best Video Game adaptation ever. I've seen this movie many times more than my favorite movie of all time.

2) Scary Movie (2000)

-How could you ignore this laugh-out-loud comedy film? To prove that, it is in my Top 100 of all time, and I'm not ashamed of it. The jokes are just soooo laughable and Anna Faris is cute.

3) High School Musical (2006)

-Quite possibly the most "popular" movie of 2006, High School Musical was actually a mediocre film but damn, it was entertaining as HELL! The songs are rather corny but there was a strange thing on it, it makes you hum the song every time you remember it.

4) Bring it On (2000)

-I discover my love on cheerleading after watching this film. I really film relax watching this movie, specially the cheerleading fans and I SO love learning the routines in this movie.

5) Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995)

-Very entertaining. That's it. And I always LOVE power rangers! God! Who doesn't get an LSS on it's theme song? "Go go power rangers!"

An Inconvinient Truth

And here I am again. Writing in my useless blog.

Bwahahaha.

Ewan ko ba. Ngayong lang siguro ako magpopost ng isang makabuluhang post dito sa blog ko.

Anyways, nagsimula ang aking thoughts nung Sunday. Ewan ko ba, pero nung nabalitaan ko sa T Patrol na meron nanamang minasaker na mag ama, napasigaw nalang ako ng...

"Huh...? What is Happening to this world?"

As in nagulat nanaman ako. Kasi diba, 2 massacres na ang nangyayari kamakailan lang at heto nanaman at may pumangatlo.

Ano na nga ba ang nangyayari sa mundo ngayon? Nakakatakot ngang isipin na nagpapatayan na ang mga tao ngayon pero anong magagawa natin.

The world we're living now is like The Matrix. Lily Chou-Chou world if you ask me, if ever you've seen that beautiful film. The rose colored days is like, gone, gone with the dust. The world is now gray, and slowly turning to black. Everyday was blur, not sure if it will be sterile again.

Kahapon, lunes, eh dapat may practice kami sa dance troup. Pero ewan ko ba kung bakit ala. Then mag 2 na, napagisipan namin ni Ann na umuwi na.

Pero bago yun, nagkwentuhan muna kami sa canteen ng school, since masasayang lang ang 20 pesos na pinamasahe ko diba.

Nashare nadin sakin ng friend ko kung ano ang bumabagabag sa kanya. So, nagulat naman ako. Pero ayos din kasi I know that she trust me.

Lumipas ang kalahating oras nang pagkukwentuhan at nauwi rin ang lahat sa uwian. Hahaha! Sa aming paglalakad sa pathwalk, nakasalubong namin si Alvin Aragon. Gulat nga kami dahil iba ang hitsura nya sa personal.

Pagkadating ko sa bahay ay sabay naman nagtext ang isa kong ka dance troupe na andun na ang trainor namin. Alas tres ng hapon na iyon. Nagulat ako at sabi ko malayo pa ang bahay ko.

Ala na din akong pera at ang dami kong ni rent na movies kaya hindi na ako pumunta ulit :p

Y Tu Mama Tambien for the 2nd time: (4/5 stars) maganda parin ang movie kahit na 2nd time na, hindi siya naluma para sa akin.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2.5/5) A disappointing sequel. I really love the original kaya na disappoint ako sa sequel na ito. Magaling pa din si Cate Blanchett, if you ask me.

La Vie En Rose for the 2nd time (3/5) I appreciate Marion Cotillard's performance more this time. Magaling talaga siya and she transformers herself into Edith Piaf. Well deserved Oscar, Marion!

After spending so many time watching latest movies, I've finally made my Official Top 10 movies of 2007, which I consider, the best movie year of this decade:

10) The Look Out
-Scott Frank's original and mind-twisting crime thriller about a high school student Chris Pratt (Joseph Gordon Levitt), whose life turned upside down after a tragic accident happened. Featuring knockout performances by Gordon-Levitt and Jeff Daniels, The Look Out is unmissable.

9) Tribu
-Jim Libiran's unique human drama about rappers and gangsta tribes in the inner city of Manila. Breathtaking cinematography and excellent directing makes Tribu one of the most well crafted films of 2007, with echoes of City of God (2002) and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006).

8) Lust, Caution
-The latest offering of Brokeback Mountain (2005) director Ang Lee was not easy to ignore. It's brutal, frankness and boldness was just so powerful, it's so hard to forget.

7) Juno
-Diablo Cody's witty screenplay about teenage pregnancy is charming and engaging, with Ellen Page as the lead character, who gave one of the best performances this year. Featuring a script that is inspired and well written, Juno is an excellent feel good movie.

6) Atonement
-A great adaptation of one of the most heart breaking love stories ever, Atonement captures the beauty of McEwan's novel, with one of the best cast ensembles this year. Stunning cinematography, editing, costume design, Atonement is an almost perfect movie, and one of the most beautiful and tear jerking endings ever, mainly thanks to Vanessa Redgrave.

5) 4 Months, 3 weeks and 2 days
-Romania's film, 4 Months, is a movie that brings back the golden age of Cinema. A story about one of the most controversial themes ever (abortion), 4 Months, 3 weeks and 2 days was brilliant in many ways, but the best aspect of the film was the bar-raising performance of Annamaria Marinca, one of the best cinematic discoveries since Marlon Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire (1951).

4) The Love of Siam
-Chukiat Sakveerakul's multi-layered drama about love, family and finding the courage to be yourself is one of the best surprises last year. The movie, despite that it is branded as a gay movie, was a movie about love. Featuring fine performances, incredible story telling and brilliant soundtrack, The Love of Siam is the best romantic movie of 2007, and one of the best of the decade.

3) There Will Be Blood
-Daniel Day Lewis once again proved that he was one of the greatest actors ever in this movie about corruption, greed and religion, featuring great cinematography and great supporting performance specially by Paul Dano as the villanous priest Eli Sunday. PT Anderson also proves that he is easily one of the decade's best directors.

2) Pisay
-Aureous Solito's light and engaging teenage drama about Philippine Science students in the claws of Marcos regime was easy to admire and to love. Sweet performances and tight storytelling makes Pisay a brilliantly conceived drama.

1) No Country for Old Men
-Thrilling from start to finish, No Country for Old Men is a solid thriller drama featuring great directing, cinematography and excellent acting, specially from Javier Bardem who created one of the most monstrous villains of all time. No Country is never a boring film, it is gut wrenching, bleak, intense and suspenseful movie. A big round of applause to Coen brother's best movie ever, and simply, the best movie of the year.

Wala lang. It's just that, I miss the old stuff...here goes...

Masaya ka kapag naglalaro ka ng Tex at Pog. Kadalasan ang design dito ay yung mga palabas sa TV, mga drama o kaya anime, may dialogue pa.

May comics pa ang bazooka. Kahit di mo maintindihan yung Fortune Cookie sa huli ay collection mo pa rin yun.

Uso pa yung tirador, yung gawa talaga sa sanga ng puno.

Ang mga babae naglalaro ng paper dolls na tigpipiso bawat isang set sa sari-sari store.

Kung lalake ka, siguradong may pellet gun ka.

Humihingi ka ng dalawang piso sa magulang mo para maglaro ng video arcade sa sari-sari store. Favorite mo yung Sonic, Mario at Street Fighter.

Nagwa-watusi ka kapag New Year kahit pinapagalitan ka ng nanay mo.

Meron kang sapatos na umiilaw yung swelas kapag iniaapak mo. Mas sikat kung iba-iba yung kulay.

Merong at least isang Chicago Bulls na shirt sa bahay nyo. Madalas number 23 pa yung nakalagay at madalas din na kulay Red or Black ito.

You maybe noticed that I keep saying that this past few days are "blurred" and "irritating"...and "boring"

I don't know why, but maybe because I'm just so busy. Maybe because there are lots of things to do. Maybe because...I'm just blinded by my anger and depression. Maybe because I was just so dumb for not noticing the good things happened in this past few days.

I started to think about this last night, and I really thought that I become so stupid in the past few days. Because I always say that I AM NOT IN THE MOOD, well in the fact that there are a lot of good things happening around me.

That "good thing" started on Thursday. It's pretty ominous since I started my day BAD. First bad thing is that I am lack of sleep so my body was like a sleeping oil. Second, I saw the person "who shall not be named". Plastics. And the most bizarre thing is, our performance wasn't impressive. I thought that I will be "bizarre" for the whole day but I was wrong.

Exactly 2:00 in the afternoon, me, Lea and Ivan goes to the canteen. I thought it will be another ordinary canteen life (chattering about something that wasn't THAT interesting but will become interesting sooner, something like that) but I was so wrong. We played spin the bottle, and we are ought to ask questions to each other.

It was fun and very enlightening. I mean, I say to myself, "something WORTHY happened to me today". I mean, getting to know more those close friends of mine was a good feeling and experience, and so as me, they get to know me better and it was so nice to hear some inspiring words from them. We finished up for around 4:30 in the afternoon. It's funny because we decided to go home in 2:30 but we ended up chatting up to 4:30...

In Friday, my life was in peace. I don't go to school cause I'm very tired, and there's no classes anyway, so why bother? Anyways, I was all alone in the house, surfing the web and watching DVDs. I never got bored, and I become very happy. For the first time in the past 2 weeks, I give time to myself. I give myself a little entertainment. I worry nothing. It's like, I was imprisoned for several years and now, I'm free as hell. It was great.

Great things happened in Saturday. Early in the morning I go to Quiapo to have a nice DVD shopping. I bought 8 DVDs: Monster's Ball, In the realm of the Senses, Windstruck, Forrest Gump, Casino, Elizabeth, 21 Grams and my 3rd DVD of Brokeback Mountain. It was cool and I really have fun because I love buying DVDs.

Maybe sometimes I think everyday is a bad day but as I think today, there's a little "happiness" in every bad day I've encountered.

About my last night's post...

I'm still bothered.

After talking to my friend, Ann a couple of minutes ago I opened up to her something about my dancing. I told her that I'm not great. And I think she's sorta agree with me, although it's not very clear, but I think she is.

I opened up to her that I really feel that I'm not great at dancing and felt that I need to quit it. I mean dancing was cool, but I think that dancing is really not for me. I love it, but I guess dancing don't love me :(

I'm just a little upset because the talent that God given to me was not "showy", I mean I can't show it every time, unlike singing and dancing, even if you are in just one corner, you can show it, but me? No. I can't. It will just make me laughable when I show it on ordinary times. Call me weird but that's just what I feel.

So for now, it's like whatever, but I think I wanna give up.

Dancing or Acting: What?

for the past few days I've been thinking of what I really wanted to do. Can I just stick into my dancing career or forget it and stay in the business that I started in: Acting Business?

You see, I'm currently a member of Trinity Dance Troupe in our school. It was fun because I met a lot of people and make friends. I also gain a little popularity by joining there [:-)], and to sum up all of these, it's really fun learning different moves.

But let's face it. I'm not a good dancer. In the scale of 1-10, I rate myself a 7. Just plain mediocre. Not great or bad. Just OK. Some people said that I'm a good dancer, maybe because I put all of my efforts and energy in dancing-but that's just me, maybe I insert a little paranoia here but, I think of myself as an overrated dancer. I'm not that good nor near great and light years to brilliance-as I said before, I'm just OK. But you see, there's a little improvement in me. In the early days of my dancing life, I only know modern dance, ballroom, basic jazz and some hip-hop. But now, my hip-hop dancing skills are improved (I hope so).

The dance troupe I'm in was cool. There are lots of great dancers that is involved, and it's cool to watch them dance. Sometimes I feel like I wanted to be just like them, but I know my limitations. I can't learn everything. That's LIFE, you can't get everything you want, just like Britney Spears got great looks but she can't have her children.

Acting, on the other hand, was my real passion. I love dancing and that's my 2nd favorite thing to do, but acting was really my cup of tea. I love scripts, I love portraying interesting characters, I love to perform in front of many people. I wanna utter timeless and universal dialogues. I love inspiring people on the characters I portray in the stage or in TV.

I'm a former TV child star, and yes, I'm one of the kids of Batibot and it's spin off, Koko Kwik Kwak. I appear in Batibot only twice but I appear in Koko Kwik Kwak in 10 episodes. It's great remembering those young years, and it was such a great experience.

My career as a stage actor was one of the best years in my life. When I was 8, I was a member of the Theater Ministry in our local church, and we did a lot of stage plays, mostly taken from biblical stories so I portray biblical characters most of the time.

When I was in grade 4, I started to attend acting workshops so I can be a PETA member-the most popular Theater Ensemble in the Philippines. It didn't work out, cause my high school days sneak in, so I need to quit.

Just a few days earlier, maybe because I'm always on a bad mood and depressed in the past few days, I started to think on what I really wanted to do. I thought that I should really stick into my acting career cause that's really for forte and I can say that I'm really great in acting cause a lot of people praises me whenever I act. But I also think that I love dancing, and currently, I'm a dancer.

I sum up all of my thoughts and concluded that:

I've been acting almost all of my entire life. It's not that I need to give up in acting, but I think it's time to focus on something else. I think it's time to, give chance on my dancing. Time to learn something new, something different. A new talent. I can still act while I'm trying out dancing. Because, once you step out of the theater, the show isn't over. There's a bigger theater, a lot more of audience and thousands of lessons that you'll need to learn, a thousands of trials you'll need to face, and a thousands of characters you need to meet and understand.

Aral nanaman. Parang may hang over pa ata ako nuong nakaraang bakasyon.

"Denise!"

Sigaw ng aking bestfriend na si Briony.

"Briony! Sabay na tayo!"

Naglakad kami pareho ni Briony papunta sa sakayan ng jeep.

"Namiss kita friend sobra!"

"Ah ganun! Hahaha! Ako hindi..."

"Ganun? Sige ganyanan ha"

"Di syempre namiss ko bestfriend ko. Huy balita ko si Jennifer daw nagshift na ng course"

"Talaga? Anung course?" sabi ni Briony habang binigay ang bayad naming dalawa sa driver ng jeep.

"Hmm...HRM ata" sabi ko naman habang kinuha ko yung sukli sa katabi kong babae saka nagpasalamat narin ako.

"Ganun ba? Sayang naman si Jen di pa siya nagpatuloy ng masscom. Eh ikaw wala ka bang balak?"

"Jusko. Hindi ako lilipat ng course no. Huy ito na pala tayo...Ma' para po!"

Bumaba na kami ni Briony sa jeep at pumasok ng University.

"Kamusta ang sem-break mo Denise?" tanong ni Jen sakin habang naglalakad kami.

"Ayos naman..."

"Nakapag move on ka na ba?"

Natahimik ako at nawala ang ngiti sa mukha ko. Napayukod nalang ako.

"Denise...?"

"Uhm..paunti unti siguro Briony...kinakaya ko ng paunti unti..."

Natahimik bigla si Briony.

"Namimiss ko na si Edison..."

Natahimik kaming dalawa hangga't sa pumasok kami sa loob ng classroom. Umupo kami ni Briony sa 2nd row malapit sa may window ng left wing.

"Sis. You have to move on with his death"

"Yeah...it's been 2 months pero parang kahapon lang magkasama kami lagi sa launch"

Hindi ko napansin na tumulo na pala ang luha ko.

"Oh umiiyak ka nanaman.."

"Huh? Ay sorry..." sabi ko kay Briony saka pinunasan ang luha ko.

Walang anu-ano't may tumabi sakin sa left side ko.

"Haaay...Denise, Denise, Denise nagdadrama kananaman ba dyan?"

Parang kilala ko ang boses na yun ah.

"Rocky..?"

Napalingon ako kay Rocky.

"Sino pa nga ba? Aaron Terrence De Guzman a.k.a. Rocky!"

"Anung nakaen mo at tumabi ka saken?" sabi ko saka inayos ang buhok ko.

"Rocky, bat ka nga umupo sa tabi ni Denise?" sabat naman ni Briony habang nagsusuklay.

"Eh bakit ba? Masama bang tumabi kay Denise? Hindi naman di-ba Deni-girl?" sabi sakin ni Rocky habang nilapit nya yung mukha nya sa face ko.

"Shut up Rocky! Alam mo ang FC mo talaga!"

"FC? Feeling Close? Aba hindi ah matagal na kaya tayong close" sabi ni Rocky sa nagdekwatro pa at nilagay ang kamay sa likod ng desk ko.

"Close tayo? Eh halos hindi nga kita kinakausap last sem diba?"

"Eh bakit ayaw mo akong kausapin non?" sabi ni Rocky saka kinuha ang book na nakapatong sa lamesa ng desk ko.

"Wag mo ngang pakialaman yan! Jan ka magaling eh sa pang iimbyerna ng tao kaya halos lahat dito sa University naiinis sayo!" sabi ko saka dinampot ang libro sa kanya.

"Ang arte mo naman! Pasalamat ka kinakaibigan kita!"

"Ah ganun ba yun? Well hindi ako nakikipag kaibigan sayo!" sabi sabay talikod sa kanya.

"Aaron Terrence..."

"Rocky po!"

"Whatever. Dumistansya ka na po pleeeeeeeeeeeease! Please lang..!" sabi ni Briony saka ipangpatuloy ang pagsusuklay habang ako naman ito inaayos ang gamit sa bag ko.

"Ayoko nga..." sabi ni Rocky saka inayos ang pagupo nya. Nagdekwatro at sumandal sa sandalan saka nilagay ulit ang kamay nya sa likod ng desk ko.

"Nakakita ka na ng lumilipad na suklay?" sabi ni Briony. Napatingin tuloy ako sa kanya.

"Hindi pa...at meron ba?" sabi ni Rocky saka tumawa ng malakas habang nakatingin kay Briony.

"Meron...ito oh!" sabi ni Briony saka binato ang suklay kay Rocky.

Natamaan sa nuo si Rocky. Napapiket ito sa sakit. Nagulat ako at napatingin ako kay Rocky.

"Aray! Briony sumosobra ka na ha!" sabi ni Rocky na tumayo na sa desk.

"Get out..." sabi ni Briony saka dinampot ang suklay sa sahig.

"Bad trip"

sabi ni Rocky saka kinuha ang bag at lumipat sa ibang upuan. Sa 2nd row parin, sa may window sa right wing ng school.

"Briony, bat mo naman binato ng suklay si Rocky?" sabi ko Briony habang palingon lingon ako kay Rocky na tila nababadtrip.

"Sis, hindi mo dapat tinatabihan yang si Rocky. Super yabang nyan! The usual na paguugali ng mga Varsity dito sa campus" sabi ni Briony habang tinitignan yung Cellphone kong N90.

"Huh? Baket naman? May ginawa na ba sya sayo?"

"Wala naman sis" sabi ni Briony habang pinatugtog niya ang Umbrella ni Rihanna gamit ang cellphone ko. Napasayaw si Briony sa tugtog. Natawa ako syempre dahil mukhang ewan si Briony.

Napalingon ako ulit kay Rocky at nakita kong nakasilip siya sa may bintana. Nung medyo nakahalata syang nakatingin ako, tumingin sya. Nilihis ko naman ang tingin ko sa kanya.

Maya-maya, mga 3 minutes bago mag-time, may pumasok na guy; chinito siya, medyo long ang hair at mukhang sobrang tahimik. Natahimik ang mga maiingay kong classmates nung pumasok siya. Napansin kong napatingin din si Rocky sa kanya.

Umupo yung guy duon sa unahan ko. Napatingin ako kay Briony na nagsasayaw parin at parang may sariling mundo dahil naka earphones siya. Sino kaya siya? Ngayon ko lang kasi nakita ang guy na yun.

"Briony..." sabi ko kay Briony habang niyuyugyug ko na ang balikat niya.

"Anu ba kita mong..." napatigil si Briony ng makita nya yung guy.

"Siiiiiiiiiiis! Sino yan? Ang gwapoooooooooo!" mahinang sabi ni Briony sakin.

"Ewan ko nga eh. Ngayon ko lang siya nakita eh. Baka galing sa ibang section" sabi ko kay Briony ng sobrang hinda dahil baka marinig kami nung guy. Maya-maya't nakita kong lumapit ulit si Rocky sa tabi ko.

"Ba't andito ka nanaman?" sabi ko kay Rocky

"Denise sino siya?" bulong sakin ni Rocky habang nakatingin dun sa guy sa unahan ko.

"Huh? Di mo rin kilala? Ewan ko di ko din kilala eh" sabi ko kay Rocky

"Ang weird nya huh.." sabi ni Rocky saka tinaas ang kanang kilay niya at tumingin sakin

"Hoy Rocky kala ko ba kilala mo lahat ng tao dito sa school?" sabi ni Briony.

"Uhm, siguro, oo...pero swear ngayon ko lang nakita yan" sabi ni Rocky kay Briony

Lumingon si Briony sa likod at ang mga babae ay nag bubulungan sa likod saka tumitingin dun sa guy.

"Hmmm....I guess a new heartrob was in this class!" sabi ni Briony saken

"Ano may papalit na saken? Ang kapal ha.." sabi ni Rocky

"Hoy, hoy baka nakakalimutan mong hindi ka nakaupo dyan bumalik ka na nga sa upuan mo" sabi ni Briony kay Rocky. Natawa naman ako ng konti.

Maya-maya lumingon sakin yung guy.

"Anung class 'to?" sabi nung guy sakin. Gosh ang cute nga nya..!

"Uhm...uhm...Basic Composition...English 102...hehehe" sabi ko sa kanya

"Okay thanks " sabi nung guy sakin saka lumingon ulit sa harapan. Gosh ang cute ng smile niya!

"Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis!" sabi ni Briony saken habang si Rocky naman ay palingon lingon sakin at dun sa guy

"Briony nangiintriga ka nanaman" sabi ni Rocky saka nirelax ang sarili sa upuan

"Bat nangingialam ka?" sabi ni Briony at natawa nanaman ako

"Rocky bumalik ka na nga sa upuan mo" sabi ko kay Rocky

"Batuhin niyo na ako ng kahit anu hindi ako aalis dito" sabi ni Rocky saken saka ngumiti

Maya-maya'y dumating na ang professor namin...

Tumayo kaming lahat para mag dasal.

"So, who will lead the prayer?" sabi ni Mrs. Pascual, habang tumitingin sa iba.

"You." sabi ni Ma'm saka tinuro yung guy na nasa harapan ko

"Anung name mo iho?"

"Todd. Todd Rutherford po" sabi ni nung guy, este Todd pala. Napansin kong yung iba naming classmates ay kinilig. Lumapit si Todd sa harapan. Nakatingin siya sakin saka ngumiti. Ngumiti din ako. Napansin ni Rocky yun.

"Uhm, Denise gutom ka ba?" sabi nya sakin

"Hindi.." sabi ko sa kanya. Pero parang wala ako sa sarili ko. Nagsimula ng magdasal si Todd.

"In the name of the father into the son and to the holy spirit...

Lord salamat po sa araw na ito. Patunubayan niyo po kami sa aming subject na Composition at sana marami kaming matutunan this day. At sana i-bless niyo po kaming lahat dito sa class at sana ay maging maayos ang buong semester. Amen"

Nag sign of the cross na kami saka umupo. Bumalik na rin sa kinauupuan si Todd.

Huu..Semi Final's coming, I need to review so that I can pass, specially in Math. Busy ako talaga ngayon dahil gagawa pa kami ng Short Film sa NSTP, Radio Drama at Documentary sa Filipino, Speech sa English, Quiz sa Psychology, and the worst, Long Quizes in Math.

Golly wow, I'm so glad that even though I've been busy, eh hindi naman ako masyadong stressed. Pero minsan talaga eh nakakapagod, buti hindi kami masyadong nag tetraining sa dance troupe.

Sobra, sana naman ay hindi na bumalik si Sir sa Math. Mas marami akong natututunan dun sa substitute teacher namen kesa dun sa hinayupak na yun. Sana siya nalang talaga yung teacher naten and not that creature. Hehehehe! Siya nga pala, may cheerdance pa pala sa PE kaya, yeah, need to come up with some cheerleading steps T___T, goodness I hope GOD will give me so much wisdom and knowledge dahil sobrang kailangan ko yan ngayon. Sige, Gotta review na, GTG! Thanks!

“Jamie”

Katatapus lang ng exams ni Jamie. Pagod na pagod itong nagabang ng bus sa tapat nang kanilang eskwelahan. Matindi ang init ng sikat ng araw dahil nga ay July palamang, malayu-layo pa sa tag ulan.

“Ang init. Hirap pang sumakay” sabi ni Jamie.

Sa sobrang init ng ulo ni Jamie ay naglakad siya papunta sa may waiting shed. Duon ay may bakanteng upuan at duon umupo.

“Susko, mag aala una na. Inaantok na ako, may last test pa kami bukas. Bwisit talaga!” muktol nitong si Jamie.

Sa kanyang paghihintay, ay napatayo ito sa harapan ng waiting shed. Inayos ang medyo nagusot niyang paldang pampasok na kulay asul at ang collar ng kanyang puting blouse. Maya-maya’y may nakita siyang isang madungis na bata. Tila wala ito sa kanyang sarili.

“Ate pahingi ng pera” sabi ng bata.

“Wala” galit na sabi ni Jamie.

“Ate asan nanay ko?” tanong ng batang gusgusin na nanlilimahid sa grasa at dumi.

“Hindi ko alam! Umalis ka nga sa harapan ko mabahong nilalang!” sabi ni Jamie.

“Asan ang nanay ko? Asan?” sabi ng batang gusgusin habang hinahawakan at niyuyugyog si Jamie.

“Anu ba bitiwan mo ko!” sabi ni Jamie saka itinulak ang bata. Napaupo ito. Tumayo ang bata at tinignan siya ng masama. Dumila ito sa kanya, tumakbo ng saglit saka dumila at nagsasasayaw.

Nainis si Jamie. Muli itong umupo. Nang kinapa nito ang bulsa niya, nakita niyang wala ang kanyang pera. Hinanap niya ito sa bag niya. Wala. Nanginit ang ulo ni Jamie at tumayo itong muli. Nakita niya ang bata na nasa kabilang kanto. Dali dali itong tumawid sa kabilang kanto at tinawag ang bata.

“Hoy!” sigaw ni Jamie. Nilapitan nito ang bata at pinaghahampas ng bag sa ulo at pinagbububugbog.

“Ilabas mo yung pera ko!” sigaw ni Jamie habang sinasaktan ang bata. Nakatingin lang mga tao sa paligid. Tila wala silang pakialam sa bata.

“Wala! Wala akong pera!’ sigaw ng bata habang nanlalaban kay Jamie. Pinaghahampas ng bata ng kamay niya si Jamie habang sumisigaw ito ng malakas. Pilit namanng lumalaban si Jamie. Pinagsasampal niya ang bata. Walang anu ano’t napatigil ang bata at sumigaw ito ng malakas…

“WALAAAAAAAAA!” sigaw ng bata, saka itinulak nito si Jamie.

Tumakbo ito papunta sa highway. May paparating na bus. Lumingon it okay Jamie at nag “beh-beh” nanaman ito. Nakaupo lang si Jamie at napalingon sa bus. Nabundol ang bata. Gulat na gulat si Jamie sa kanyang nasaksihan. Kitang kita niya ang mga mata ng bata, nakadilat at ang direksyon ay nakatuon sa kanya. Kinilabutan si Jamie dahil sa imahe ng batang duguan. Dinumog ng tao ang malamig at duguang bangkay ng bata. Sa sobrang gulat ni Jamie ay napasakay ito sa jeep. Pinagpapawisan siya’t kinakabahan. Malakas ang ugong ng puso niya’t pulso. Sinabi niya sa tsuper na wala siyang perang pamasahi. Pinautang naman siya ng kanyang katabi.

Pagkauwi sa bahay ay gulat parin si Jamie. Hinagis niya ang kanyang bag at kumuha ng libro. Humiga siya upang magbasa. Pagkabuklat ni Jamie sa ika-17 pahina, nagulat siya ng may nahulog…

Ang pera niyang singkwenta pesos.

Napatayo si Jamie sa pagkakahiga. Muling nanariwa sa kanyang gunita ang mga mata ng batang nabundol na nakatitig mismo sa kanya. Muli niyang narinig ang boses ng bata, na nagsasabing hindi siya ang kumuha ng pera. Walang anu ano’t tumulo ang luha ni Jamie, natigilan at biglang napatingin sa imahe ni Hesu Kristo na nakasabit sa kaniyang dingding.

“On the Road”

Alas dos na nang madaling araw ngunit nasa daan parin ang mag syotang sila Alice at Glenn. Galing kasi sila ng Graduation Ball nila sa college tapos diretso na sila sa bahay nila Alice sa Laguna. Alas dose na natapos ang ball kaya’t inabot sila ng dis oras ng gabi sa daan.

“Glenn, dis oras na nang gabi, ang layo pa natin, hindi ka pa ba inaantok?” tanong ni Alice kay Glenn.

“Hindi pa naman. Pero medyo. Kaya ko panaman eh kaya don’t worry” sabi ni Glenn. Natahimik nalang si Alice. 25 minutes later, ay talagang nakikita na ni Alice na tumutungka na si Glenn.

“Glenn, anu ka ba, pwede naman tayong tumigil sandali ha? Inaantok ka na magpahinga muna tayo” sabi ni Alice. Marahil siguro kaya inaantok si Glenn ay dahil narin sa nainom nitong wine.

“Hindi. Promise, hon, kaya ko pang mag drive. Don’t worry everything’s fine” sabi ni Glenn.

“Bahala ka nga!” sabi ni Alice saka binuksan niya ang iPod niya. Hindi ito mabuksan, kaya’t itinapon ni Alice ito sa likod ng van.

“Oh, ano baket?” sabi ni Glenn.

“Nakakainis kasi. Kung kelan ko kailangan yung iPod ko saka nawalan ng batirya” sabi ni Alice saka tumingin sa bintana. Nakita ni Alice sa side mirror na may kasunod na motorsiklo ang van nila.

“Glenn ingat ka sa pagmamaneho. Medyo bumibilis tayo” sabi ni Alice kay Glenn.

Napansin ni Alice na tila bumibilis ang takbo ng motorsiklo. Malapit na ang repleksyon nito sa side mirror. Napaangat ang likod ni Alice mula pagkakasandal dahil sa nakita niya.

“Glenn kilala mo ba yung taong nakamotor?” sabi ni Alice.

“Huh?” sabi ni Glenn sabay tingin sa rear mirror. Ang tindi ng ilaw ng motor. Hindi maaninag ni Glenn ang mukha ng taong nakamotor.

“Di ko makita yung mukha niya. Bakit?”

“Mukha kasing sinusundan tayo eh. Kanina lang medyo malayo pa siya pero ngayon kita mo, ang lapit na niya satin” sabi ni Alice.

“Sige…baka gusting makipaglaro” sabi ni Glenn. Kinabig ni Glenn ang manibela at tinapakan ang gasoline saka nagpaharurot ng mabilis. Nakita nilang nagpabilis din ng andar ang motorsiklo at halatang sinusudan na sila.

“Glenn! Natatakot na ako! Bilisan mo!” sabi ni Alice, habang palingon lingon sa likod ng van.

Lalo pang binilisan ni Glenn ang sasakyan, pero nakarating na sa gilid ng driver’s seat and motrosiklo. Naka all black ang lalake, naka helmet din itong black at hindi mo maaninag ang mukha nito.

“Anak ng…” sabi ni Glenn nang makita niya ang lalakeng nakamotor sa tabi niya. Namulagat ang mga mata ni Alice sa nakita niya.

“Glenn! Sino yan?” sabi ni Alice kay Glenn.

“Hindi ko alam!”

Walang anu ano’t nagpakita ng isang samurai sword ang lalakeng naka motorsiklo. Napasigaw si Alice sa sobrang takot. Pilit na nagpatakbo ng mabilis si Glenn, habang sigaw ng sigaw si Alice.

“Bilis! Glenn! Bilis pa!” sigaw ni Alice kay Glenn. Pinaharurot ng mabilis ni Glenn ang van ngunit nasusundan paren ng lalake sila Glenn. Kinasakas ng lalake ang samurai sword sa pinto ng Van na siyang nagdulot ng malaking scratch sa pinto. Sigaw parin ng sigaw si Alice dahil sa sobrang takot. Ginitgit ni Glenn ang motorsiklo. Natamaan ang motorsiklo, ngunit tinusok ng lalake ang gulong ng van, dumerederetso ang van at nabanga ito sa isang puno. Malakas ang pagkakabanga.

Bahagyang nawalan ng malay ang dalawa, ngunit pagkatapos ng 1 minuto ay nagkamalay na sila. May sugat sa ulo at sa balikat si Alice, gayun din si Glenn. Nahihilo itong tumingin tingin sa paligid.

“Glenn!” sabi ni Alice.

“Alice…ok ka lang?”

“Ok lang ako. Asan na yun?” sabi ni Alice. Pilit na lumingon si Alice sa likod. Nakita niya ang nakasalampang motorsiklo at ang lalaki.

“Jusko Glenn, napatay ata natin siya” sabi ni Alice

“Abswelto tayo niyan. Self defense ang ginawa natin” sabi ni Glenn

Napasandal si Alice nang saglit. Nagbuntong hininga saka pumikit. Si Glenn naman ay lumingon ulit sa likod. Wala na ang lalaki at ang motor.

“Alice! Yung lalake at yung motor, nawala!” nakakagulat na sabi ni Glenn kay Alice.

“Huh? Kanina lang andyan yun eh!” sabi ni Alice.

Natakot ang dalawa. Natahimik. Tanging ang mga himig ng kuligkulig ang maririnig. Ang mga pagaspas ng hangin sa mga dahon ng puno rin ay mistulang ingay sa mga tenga nila. Mayamaya’y narinig nila ang isang ingay. Isang ingay na mistulang nagpapaandar ng motor. Papalapit ng papalapit ang tunog. Napalingon si Alice sa kanyang kanan at nagulantang sa kanyang nakita. Ang lalaking nakamotor, duguan ang mukha, labas ang kaliwang mata, gulagulanit ang suot at ang samurai sword nitong hawak ay naka tusok sa kanyang likod at lumabas sa kanyang tiyan. Buhat buhat nito ang motor habang umaandar.

“Tigilan mo na kame! Anu ba!” sabi ni Alice habang nagsisigaw ito. Papalapit na ang lalaki. Hindi rin mabuksan ng dalawa ang pinto ng van kaya’t nagsisigaw nalang sila ng tulong.

Nangmakalapit ang lalaki, bigla nitong binagsag ang bintana saka tinutok ang gulong ng umaanadar na motorsiklo. Sumigaw ng sumigaw si Alice habang hinahatak siya palayo ni Glenn na sumisigaw naren. Idinikit ng lalake ang gulong ng motor sa mukha ni Alice. Napaiyak at napahiyaw sa sakit si Alice. Dumaloy ang dugo mula sa kanyang mukha. Nangingisayngisay pa si Alice habang umaandar sa mukha nya ang gulong. Halos madurog ang mukha ni Alice hangat sa mamatay ito. Natahimik si Glenn sa sobrang gulat, habang tinititigan niya ang duguang bangkay ni Alice. Lumabas nalang si Glenn sa kanyang van. Nawala ang lalaki.

Hinanap ni Glenn ang lalaki kung saan saan. Wala. Ni bakas ng lalaki ay wala. Tumayo si Glenn sa gilid ng van, nang biglang nagdilim ang paligid.

Napaupo nalang si Glenn dahil sobrang dilim ng paligid. May nakita siyang mga bakal na rehas, tumutulong tubig at naging malamig na semento ang maalikabok na daan. Isang flashlight ang bumungad sa kanya, nagmumula ito sa isang warden.

“Oh ano, naturukan niyo naba ‘to?” sabi ng warden sa kasama nito.

Tinurukan ng doctor si Glenn ng pampapakalma. Sinabi niya sa doctor

“Totoo ang nakita ko. Yung lalaking nakaitim, andyan siya” sabi ni Glenn sa doctor. Sa insidenteng nangyari sa kanya at sa girlfriend niya isang taon na ang nakakaraan.

“Tama na Glenn, wala siya dito” sabi ng doctor saka pinahiga si Glenn sa. Nanatiling naka talukbong si Glenn, tila takot na takot ito. Natahimik na buong silid niya, tanging ang tumutulong tubig na lamang ang naririnig. Nanlaki ang mga mata ni Glenn. Nasira ang katahimikan dahil sa ingay ng pagpapaandar ng motorsiklo. Inalis ni Glenn ang kanyang talukbong, at nakita nya ang lalaking nakaitim na pumaslang sa kanyang kasintahan.

“Wag! Waaaaaaaag! Waaaaaaaaag!” sigaw ni Glenn habang papalapit na sa kanya ang lalaking nakamotor. Bumalot ang sigaw ni Glenn sa tahimik na eskinita ng mga tila-bilanguang mga kwarto ng mga naka confine sa MADHOUSE. Ang mga baliw na confine dito ay nagsigawan na rin. Ang alingawngaw ng mga baliw ay nagdagdag ng ingay sa buong lugar.

Pinuntahan ng mga doctor ang madhouse. Tinignan ng mga doctor ang kwarto ni Glenn. Nakita nila si Glenn na nakahandusay sa sahig, labas ang lahat ng lamang loob. Nagulat ang mga doctor at agad na tumawag ng pulis at ambulansya.

Unforgettable. The film was absolutely a mind-blower. The creepy and visceral cinematography was one of the best assets of the film, aside from it's script, acting, direction and the great editing. City of God wasn't a movie, it's like YOU filming a documentary about City of God, and that's how powerful this film is-it really gets into YOU.

7) Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

Starring: Abigail Breslin, Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Paul Dano, Steve Carrell and Alan Artkin

Charming and funny, Little Miss Sunshine has a lot of lessons to teach; from being yourself to a simple lesson on how to manage a family. The movie was really funny, touching and...well, very funny! It's a feel good movie. I never felt so good after watching a movie since My Sassy Girl.

6) Singin' in the Rain (1952)
Directed by: Stanley Donen and Gene Kelley
Starring: Gene Kelley, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor and Jean Hagen

Witty, funny and energy-rising, Singin' in the Rain proves that "old jokes" are still funny. The movie is no-way an outdated, because I still laugh on the jokes taht it cracks and the dance sequences are very great. The movie was a classic, and is the best musical ever made.

5) My Sassy Girl (2001)

Starring: Jeon ji hyun and Cha tae hyeon

A gem, spectacular and one of the best romances ever told. After viewing this film, I realize that falling in love was such an amazing experience. It's just that the romance portrayed in this film was very sweet and, even though the lead guy was beaten up by the girl most of the times, the film was still very sweet and charming, specially the very beautiful lead girl. My Sassy Girl was a film for everyone, the one's who want to fall in love or not.

4) Pulp Fiction (1994)

Starring: John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Bruce Willis, Vhing Rhames, Uma Thurman and Amanada Plummer

A movie about nothingness? Impossible. Oh, no, it is POSSIBLE. Simple; Pulp Fiction proves that. The movie has nothing to offer: values? X. morals? X. easy-to-follow storyline? X. But why does this film is great? Yeah, the answer is becuase it's ALL ABOUT NOTHING! Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece of art. Over the top acting plus exciting and classic scenes that marks in the history of Hollywood, this movie was a sure-view classic.

3) All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001)

Starring: Hayato Ichihara, Shugo Oshinari, Yu Aoi, Ayumi Ito, Miwako Ichikawa and Tomohiro Kaku

The film's dark, sad and "etherial" camera works added the charm to this movie. The movie was a vogue, surreal, flawless and brilliant. The cinematography was just so fantastic, as if you feel the sadness that sorrounds the whole place. The acting was outstanding, specially Shougo Oshinari as the troubled teenage-bully Hoshino. He steals the screen everythime he is in; what a great acting.

2) Battle Royale (2000)
Directed by: Kinji Fukasaku
Starring: Tatsuya Fujiwara, Aki Maeda, Masanobu Ando, Taro Yamamoto, Kou Shibasaki, Chiaki Kuriyama, Takashi Tsukamoto, Sosuke Takaoka and Eri Ichikawa

The best Asian movie I've ever seen. The film was not boring, have great acting, fantastic cinematography, great visuals, sountrack, direction etc. etc. What else? It's like there's nothing wrong with this film! It was almost perfect, very enjoyable and mind-bogging. Battle Royale was a great film, it's unmissable, astonishing, thought-provoking and absolutely mind blowing. You missed 1/2 of your life if you haven't seen it.

1) Amores Perros (2000)

Starring: Gael Garcia Bernal, Goya Toledo and Emilio Echeveria

If you haven't seen this film, and you think you're incomplete, maybe this movie will complete you. No seriously, if you haven't seen Amores Perros, you missed about almost whole of your life. It was such a great pleassure for me to see it, and I have no regrets on watching it. It was really great, from the direction, style and the acting, the film tops my list as the best movie I've ever seen.Alejandro Gonzales Innaritu for me is one of the best director of all time, and I, personally, wanted to be like him someday.

Starring: Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall, Emillio Estevez and Ally Sheedy

Definetely one of the most memorable movies of all time. The film shows that all people, walking in different aspects of life, have anything in common. The performances are great, specially Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald. The film, although it lacks on sex scenes and drunk teenagers, this is the best High School movie ever made. Definetely worth seeing more than 5x.

13) Babel (2006)

Directed by: Alejandro Gonzales Innaritu
Starring: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchette, Adrianna Barraza, Rinko Kikuchi and Gael Garcia Bernal

The film wasn't perferct and boring sometimes but it's the performances that keep me watching. Barraza and Kikuchi are phenomenal in this movie. Barraza was heartbreaking and phenomenal in this film, and Kikuchi gives a stunning, haunting and absolutely unforgettable moving performance.

12) Elephant (2003)
Directed by: Gus Van Sant
Starring: Alex Frost, Eric Duelen, John Robinson, Elias McConnell, Jordan Taylor, Carrie Finklea and Nicole George

Horrowing and chilling High School Drama, Elephant surely gets you into the bones. The thrilling climax and the very weird ending really gives you chills after watching it. The movie is very addicting, although some scenes can really disturb you, you can still watch the movie for 2nd time or 3rd or so. This movie was beautifully shot, carefully directed and absolutely phenomenal.

11) All About Eve (1950)
Directed by: Joseph L. Manckiewicz
Starring: Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, George Sanders, Celeste Holm and Gary Merrill

Witty dialogues and fascinating performances, All About Eve was a great character study. Full of dark humour, fantastic cinematography and great script, the film was not boring at all. Bette Davis and Anne Baxter gave a performance of a lifetime in this film. They're talents are clashing, but it ended up a tie becuase of them are great. The music was also great, and so as the supporting cast-specially the charming Celeste Holm. All About Eve is an unforgettable classic, and one of the best movies ever.

Okay okay okay. So I haven't updated my blog for a long time so, yeah I will update it now :). Anyway, so this is my top 20 films of all time. Wheather you like it or not, it's my list so deal with it :) whaat! hehehe

20) A Guide to Recognizing your Saints (2006)
Directed by: Dito Montiel
Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Shia LaBeouf, Dianne Wiest, Melonie Diaz, Channing Tatum and Rosario Dawson

The director, because this is his own story, was good and manages every scene very well. The only problem I got is it's pacing and sometimes lack of lighting in some scenes. But story-wise, acting-wise and directing, the film was outstanding.

19) Monster (2003)
Directed by: Patty Jenkins
Starring: Charlize Theron, Christian Ricci and Bruce Dern

The heart of the film is Charlize Theron. I can never ever imagine someone to play Aileen Wournos. From the looks and acts, Theron was phenomenal, and probably, her performance was the the best performance by an actress ever.

18) Jurassic Park (1993)
Directed by: Steven Speilberg
Starring: Sam Neil, Arianna Richards, Joseph Mazzello, Geoff Goldblum and Laura Dern

This classic science fiction is unforgettable. I still remember the first time I saw it as a child, and that was one of the best experience ever. The story was excellent, and those classic dinosaur scenes, the movie was timeless, excellent and absolutely breathtaking, even for repetative viewings.

17) Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)

Starring: Ken Watanabe, Kazunari Ninomiya, Tsuyoshi Ihara and Ryo Kase

Who would have thought that a war movie will enter my list? Well, I guess I just feel so board watching Saving Private Ryan so it did not make into my book. Well, the film, I believe was well crafted with excellent performances. Letters from Iwo Jima was never a boring movie; it was thrillingly stylish and astonishingly great.

16) Boys Don't Cry (1999)

Starring: Hilary Swank and Chloe Sevigny

Watching Boys Don't Cry was not just an ordinary viewing experience. It is a rollercoaster ride of a movie-I mean rollercoaster ride of emotions. As the film started to become gloomy and tragic, you will feel depressed, sad and teary but it will leave you breathless. Hilary Swank was just so great in this film.

Movie review: Swallowtail Butterfly

Fascinating, tought-provoking and visual stunning, Swallowtail Butterfly is an instant classic. Full of slow yet very good character development, stunning and haunting images and movie twists. The movie has a very fresh plot, you can't find any films similar like this. Swallowtail's characters are all lovable. This movie shows different kinds of people, which anyone can relate in one of them.

The director carefully illustrates the beautiful yet dangerous side of Japan's immigrant slum. Shunji Iwai created another world; it's not Japan, he created another place, called yentown. The director did a great job in this movie.

The acting was also great, specially the lead Hiroshi Mikami. His performance as Fei-Hong is the best performance by a Japanese actor in a Japanese movie. Those haunting facial expressions and the way he spoke his dialogues ("The God of Yen has not forsaken us" really haunts me everytime I remember it) was just perfect. His performance was flawless, and if you don't know him, you'll completely believe that he is a Chinese Immigrant. Chara was good too as the aspring singer Glico.

Shunji Iwai created a beautiful yet dangerous world in this movie. The stunning cinematography will keep you frozen as you see this film. Swallowtail isn't just an ordinary movie experience, it is an experience that will left you blown away. Shunji Iwai strikes the ceilings again.

Oh my God, what a terrific movie. It's a bit draggy, but nevertheless it was beautiful. The sceneries are just so awesome, and the setting was very, well, scary.

Shia Labaoeuf was a terrific actor. His facial expressions and the way he delivers his dialogues was just so awesome. He has a presence in every single scene he's in, and that's what I love in every performance I watch.

What really surprised me is Channing Tatum's performance. I can't believe he delivered such a great performance in this movie. He was a flat-out excellent in performing the role. He was scary and believable as Antonio. What a great performance.

The director, because this is his own story, i\was good and manages every scene very well. The only problem I got is it's pacing and sometimes lack of lighting in some scenes. But story-wise, acting-wise and directing, the film was outstanding.

Movie Review: All About Lily Chou-Chou

Flawlessly created, All About Lily Chou-Chou slowly unfolds the story of Alienation and adolescence. Set in rural Japan, Lily starts in a haunting opening sequence; keyboard typings, BBS messages and a scene of Yuichi (played fantastically by Hayato Ichihara) listening to his CD of Lily Chou-Chou.

The film's dark, sad and "etherial" camera works added the charm to this movie. The movie was a vogue, surreal, flawless and brilliant. The cinematography was just so fantastic, as if you feel the sadness that sorrounds the whole place. The acting was outstanding, specially Shougo Oshinari as the troubled teenage-bully Hoshino. He steals the screen everythime he is in; what a great acting.

One of the best assets of Lily was it's super excellent soundtrack. The Debussy pieces are just great, but the Lily Chou-chou originals are just brilliant. It simply adds a tone, mood in every scenes of the movie.

All About Lily Chou-chou is, maybe, a waste of time for Popcorn flick viewers, but still, it's one of tge most brilliant films ever. I mean, ever.
